TomPhillies are going to the dance!
The Mets are going... to play golf!

Oh how the mighty have fallen.
The Phillies never gave up and the Mets have been playing without life for weeks. Their pitching was terrible and it got them a one way ticket home. As you can see by our image at right, we don't really have any other answers for Mets fans. Ask for new pitching for Christmas. For more info on the Madden Curse, head over to Wikipedia. More playoff news coming soon.
9/29/07: The Phillies are in control now. The Cubs have clinched the NL Central. The Diamondbacks have clinched a spot. The Padres have a 2 game lead in the Wild Card standings.
Not good.
Surely Mets fans want someone's head right about now, and MyTriState offers up Omar Minaya. The Mets starting and relief pitching has been suspect all year, and we can't blame anyone for that except the general manager. Last year, the Mets fell one game short of a world series appearance and we don't see what the Minaya did to make the team better. The bullpen is a mess, Pedro was not healthy for nearly the entire season, it's a mircale El Duke was able to start 24 games and so on... If the Mets can't get into the dance, someone is going to have to stand up and be accountable. We'll pull your chair out for you, Omar.
Alternatively, you can send Kevin Kernan and email for getting your hopes up.
9/28/07: How on earth did the Mets let a 7 game lead get away between September 12th and 27th? What a difference two weeks can make. No time to ponder that now, the final weekend of the regular season is upon bot the Mets and the Phillies and it's go time as NY plays Florida and Philly plays Washington. As things stand right now, whoever comes in second place in the NL East will be on the outside looking in as the Padres has a 1 game lead in the wild card race. It's a busy weekend in the NL and two local teams (although one more local than the other) are battling for their playoff lives and it's no secret that the Mets look flatter than a day-old-left-open bottle of soda. If they're tied on Sunday, get ready for a 1 game playoff on Monday. Everyone has stories, so you can't go wrong with a site today; NYPost.com, ESPN.com, Sports.Yahoo.com and so on. Support your team this weekend or it'll be an October with - well, football.
